Posts 11.5 sacks in second season
Thibodeaux finished the 2023 campaign with 50 tackles (26 solo), including 11.5 sacks, and added four pass defenses along with three forced fumbles over 17 games.
ANALYSIS
The Giants selected Thibodeaux fifth overall in the 2022 Draft with the hope that he'd develop into an elite pass rusher. Though he showed promising flashes in his rookie campaign, the Oregon product tallied just 4.0 sacks, but he boosted that number to a much more fantasy-friendly 11.5 sacks -- tied for 12th most in the league -- in Year 2. Thibodeaux still has plenty of room to grow, as the sacks dried up over the final four games of the season, and his overall missed-tackle rate increased in comparison to the previous campaign. Still, with two years remaining on his rookie contract, there's little doubt that Thibodeaux is a key piece of the Giants' future plans.

Aiming high on stacked D-line
Thibodeaux has set the lofty goal of setting the NFL's single-season sack record in 2024, Daryl Slater of The Newark Star-Ledger reports. "Every year I'm here, I'm going for Michael Strahan's record," Thibodeaux said.
ANALYSIS
While Thibodeaux is unlikely to chase down the single-season record of 22.5 sacks shared by Strahan and T.J. Watt, the fifth overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft could be poised to improve on his 2023 total of 11.5 sacks. The Giants traded for two-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Brian Burns to pair with Thibodeaux and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence in the offseason. With Burns and Lawrence also demanding attention, it will be difficult for offenses to consistently double team Thibodeaux, which should leave him plenty of opportunities to get to the quarterback.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Thibodeaux didn't rack up sacks like some expected him to in his rookie campaign, but he still demonstrated the ability to be a dominant NFL defender. The fifth overall pick in the 2022 Draft logged a modest four sacks, but he also registered 40 pressures, 25 hurries and five batted passes along with 49 tackles. Thibodeaux is unquestionably a big part of the Giants' future, and he'll be given every opportunity to grow into an elite pass rusher. He'll likely become even more of an IDP asset in fantasy as he further learns the intricacies of the NFL game.
