2024 Fantasy Outlook
Smith took his talents to South Beach in the offseason, signing a two-year contract with the Dolphins. He’ll compete with Durham Smythe for the few touches left over for the tight ends behind wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, and running backs Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane. Smith set career highs in targets (70), catches (50) and receiving yards (582) with the Falcons last season, and his three touchdowns in 2023 tied the second-highest total of his career, behind the eight-TD outlier he produced in his fourth and final season with the Titans back in 2020. Given his expected role in Miami, Smith’s production could look more like his unimpressive first stint in the AFC East, when the journeyman had a combined 539 yards and one touchdown for New England in the 2021 and 2022 campaigns. Going to Miami on two-year deal
Smith and the Dolphins agreed to terms Thursday on a two-year contract worth up to $10 million, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith provides Miami with a pass-catching complement to blocking specialist Durham Smythe at the tight end position, giving this offense another layer in the receiving game alongside wideouts Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Last season with Atlanta, Smith logged a career-best 50-582-3 receiving line on 70 targets while working alongside Kyle Pitts. Heading into his age-29 season, Smith could be an under the radar fantasy stash due to his speed and potential fit in coach Mike McDaniel's offensive scheme, especially if he's able to establish himself as the Dolphins' clear starting tight end.

Serving as top receiving tight end
Smith, who signed with the Dolphins on Thursday, is projected to serve as the team's top receiving tight end in 2024, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran is returning to the city where he played his college ball at Florida International and doing so on a two-year, $10 million contract. Smith recorded a career-high 50 receptions and 582 receiving yards with the Falcons last season, seemingly making him a solid candidate for a role Miami's offense has struggled to aptly fill in the first two seasons of head coach Mike McDaniel's tenure.

Smith, a 2017 third-round pick of the Titans, caught 114 passes for 1,302 yards and 16 touchdowns over four seasons in Tennessee, including a career-high 2020 in which he finished with a 41-448-8 line on 65 targets. Upon joining New England in 2021, he found the end zone just once in 30 games while operating in a timeshare at tight end with Hunter Henry. This offseason, he was traded to Atlanta for a seventh-round pick. Once Kyle Pitts recovers from a knee injury, Smith will operate as a backup, but either way, he figures to play a prominent role for the Falcons, who utilize multiple TE sets.
