2024 Fantasy Outlook
The No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, Williams heads to the Bears as the franchise quarterback. The same was expected of Justin Fields just three years ago, but Fields, who was traded to Pittsburgh in March, never had the talent with which the Bears have surrounded Williams. Eight picks after Williams, the Bears drafted Rome Odunze, a 6-3 wideout with 4.45 speed. He joins holdover DJ Moore and trade acquisition Keenan Allen, giving the Bears one of the league’s better WR rooms. The Bears also signed D’Andre Swift, a good pass catcher out of the backfield, and return TE Cole Kmet, who had 11 red-zone TD receptions the last two seasons, second only to Travis Kelce. New offensive coordinator Shane Waldron didn’t exactly turn heads as Seattle’s OC the last few years, but it should go better than what the Bears had last season. Especially with Williams, a playmaker who is adept at making something out nothing. At 6-1, 215, Williams can torch defenses from the pocket with elite arm talent but also has the mobility to make plays outside the pocket, throwing with just as much accuracy and velocity on the move. If Williams has a fault, it’s that he sometimes holds the ball too long in hopes of a big play, thereby inviting trouble. Even then, though, his scrambling ability adds to his fantasy upside. The Bears are the only franchise without a 4,000-yard passer in its history. Williams should finally change that. Read Past Outlooks
Officially named starting QB
Coach Matt Eberflus named Williams' the Bears' starting quarterback at rookie minicamp Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams, the No. 1 overall pick of April's draft, was always a lock to start Week 1 over Tyson Bagent or Brett Rypien, but the team has wasted no time making Williams' position official, with Friday being the first day of on-field workouts for rookies. That allows Williams to immediately begin familiarizing himself with Chicago's offensive scheme without having to worry about splitting any reps. He can start establishing chemistry with fellow top-10 selection Rome Odunze during rookie camp, while veterans DJ Moore and Keenan Allen -- who both worked out with Williams and Odunze during the pre-draft process -- stand to arrive at team facilities for the start of OTAs.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Officially named starter
Williams was named the Bears' starting quarterback ahead of the start of the Bears' rookie minicamp Friday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The No. 1 overall pick out of USC was already assumed to be atop the depth chart, but head coach Matt Eberflus made that official Friday and added that there was "no conversation" about whether or not Williams would be under center right from the onset of his career. Williams has unsurprisingly been preparing to helm the offense from Day 1, working with his private quarterback coach Will Hewlett on the fundamentals of the team's system prior to this weekend's minicamp.
